Water Remediation Project
In April of 2006, the City of Crete embarked on a long range project to replace water mains throughout the city.
The citizens of Crete have endured low water pressure and rusty water as a result of iron deposits that have built up in 100 year old water mains throughout the city.  After an extensive study of the City of Crete water system it was determined that the most cost effective way to replace the mains involved hiring a 3 to 4 man crew.  As of December 31, 2011, this crew has replaced 33,050 feet of water main since the beginning of the project.  This process will continue for an estimated 7 to 10 additional years.
