Your Library Card
For patrons residing within the Crete city limits, there is no charge for the first card.  Property taxes collected within the city of Crete are used to fund the Crete Public Library, therefore patrons residing outside of the Crete city limits pay an annual fee of $30.00 for a library card.

Library cards can be issued as an individual or family card. Books, magazines, DVDs and audio books check out for two weeks with an additional grace period of one week.

Library Collection    
The Crete Public Library provides access to more than 27,000 print and audio visual resources.  These include adult and juvenile fiction and non-fiction books, audio books, DVDs and videos, large print books, newspapers and magazines.  The Library also provides access to eBooks and audios through OverDrive. A variety of databases are also available for patron use, including the online language learning program Mango.  Microfilm records of past and present area newspapers are also available for viewing and printing.

Computer Access    
Crete Public Library has six patron workstations that provide Internet access, word processing and children’s educational games.  Laptops are also available for in Library use for adult patrons.

We are unable to reserve computers for a specific time.  Patrons are given access based on the order in which they sign in for computer use at the circulation desk.

Crete Public Library provides a wide variety of programs for all ages.  From preschool sessions to reading with residents in assisted living and nursing homes, library staff provide fun and engaging opportunities for community residents.
